Based on the statistics from the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Russian Federation for 2015, the branch of the People's Expertise ONF compiled a rating of the ten most dangerous cities from the point of view of drivers. The basis was the number of fatal accidents per 100,000 people. However, the ONF does not intend to limit itself to the analysis of statistics: a project called the “Life Map” has been created, which will be valid from November 1 throughout the country. Its purpose is to monitor the condition of roads to identify hazardous areas and eliminate the causes of accidents.
Introducing you ten cities of Russia with the most dangerous roadsranked.
10. Volgograd
The capital of the Volgograd region is located at the intersection of several major highways. The three highways crossing Volgograd in length are in fact just a chain of streets. There are no bypass roads for transit vehicles (with few exceptions), which forces laden wagons to move around urban areas. The mortality rate per 100 thousand urban population was 5.1.
9. Krasnoyarsk
The number of fatal accidents in Krasnoyarsk coincides with Volgograd. Both cities are experiencing similar problems - the absence of ring main roads forces traffic to go through the city, and high motorization (Krasnoyarsk got the second place in the Russian Federation in the number of cars per thousand citizens) causes gigantic traffic jams, complicated by the insufficient number and crossability of automobile bridges across the Yenisei River.
8. Voronezh
An analysis of the condition of the Voronezh road network showed that at least four out of every five roads are in poor condition. The lack of modern interchanges and narrow streets contribute to the dangerous traffic situation. The mortality rate is 6.0 per 100 thousand people.
7. Omsk
Omsk suffers from the terrible quality of roads, as shown by the traffic police control raid in the Omsk region in early 2015. According to its results, about three dozen administrative cases were instituted. The number of deaths is 6.2 per 100 thousand people.
6. Irkutsk
According to the head of the traffic police department for the region V. Stupin, poor roads are the cause of 43% of road accidents in the city and the region. When leaving the scene of an accident, traffic police officers find poorly distinguishable markings, the absence of road signs and defects in the roadway caused by winter. The death rate was 6.5 per 100 thousand people.
5. Kemerovo
Some of the most dangerous routes in Russia run through this city. In Kemerovo there are several sections where cars collide one and a half to two, or even as much as seventeen times more often than in other places. Mortality statistics - 6.6 per 100 thousand people.
4. Makhachkala
According to the head of the traffic police department of the Republic of Dagestan, most accidents in Makhachkala are caused by speeding, and pedestrians are mostly affected - approximately 80% of all accidents are hit by them. About 20% of accident victims are children. Mortality statistics - 6.7 per hundred thousand people.
3. Perm
Most often in Perm, vehicle collisions (41.7%) and pedestrian accidents (28.4%) occur. One of the possible reasons is the unsatisfactory condition of the roads due to deformation of the roadbed due to climatic features and specific soil structure. The death rate is 6.8 per 100 thousand people.
2. Lipetsk
In connection with the intensive development of the region, the construction of the Lipetsk ring road with modern interchanges is underway. This will reduce the load on the road network and, possibly, reduce the number of accidents. So far, the death rate on the roads of Lipetsk is 6.9 per 100 thousand of the population.
1. Krasnodar
The breadbasket of Kuban headed the top 10 Russian settlements with the most dangerous roads. And all because of the undisciplined drivers of the Krasnodar Territory. They go to the oncoming lane, scamper, ignore traffic lights, drive while intoxicated, and also love to write sms and communicate over the phone while driving. Accidents caused by the failure of an old car became more frequent. The death rate of road users is 7.1 per 100 thousand citizens.
